5 TIPS For Shopping For Bridal Jewelry

What, Where, & How?

There are several important things to keep in mind when you are shopping for jewelry or working with a designer to create your wedding set. In order to eliminate any stress and confusion, clarify what you really need by answering these questions before you start looking...

1.) What is the personal style statement that you want to communicate on your wedding day? Casual - elegant - princess - fashionable - artistic - free spirited - classic...these are all examples of a "look" that you will be expressing through your wedding attire and accessories. Your wedding dress will be the foundation, while your jewelry will provide the beautiful details.

2.) What is your jewelry budget? Be realistic about how much you want to spend on this part of your wedding, but keep in mind this may be the only part of your wedding day attire that you will keep enjoying for years to come!

3.) Where is the ceremony? Your look will also be influenced by the location of your wedding. An outdoor wedding will allow for a more casual or non-traditional look, while a church or indoor wedding will call for a more classic or elaborate ensemble. You want to feel comfortable and appropriate at your wedding venue while still looking your best and expressing your style.

4.) How will you wear your hair? Depending on your hairstyle, different jewelry will show off to better effect. You may want to experiment with hair and jewelry combinations to find your perfect balance. Will the long dangly earrings you desire look good with your hair down, or would it be better to do a half-up half-down look to show off those fabulous chandeliers? Will your tight up-do look too severe with tiny stud earrings and that fabulous choker, or is it just right? Is your curled hair and long earrings clashing with the multi-strand necklace, or is it the perfect ensemble?

5.) When you try on jewelry, wear clothing that is a similar color and neckline to your wedding dress. Put your hair in the approximate style that you want to wear, up or down. Bring photos of the dress and any swatches along with you as well. Invite a friend or family member whose opinion and style sense you trust for an outside view, and take photos. You will thank me later!
